A certain fruit company has seen their PPS reach levels making it the most valuable company ever. Part of the fuel driving this climb in PPS is speculation regarding its plans for the living room, specifically how viewers consume television content. The idea is to bypass the traditional cable/dish box and let consumers choose their content in an ala carte basis. Viewers would tune into content via an app linking to the desired network, at least this is what rumors point to. At least this is what current rumors would have us believe. Many networks are opposed because it undermines the status quo and how they generate revenue.
This appears to align well with the new direction that Steve and Joseph are trying to achieve. Providing content via this distribution method would put PunchTV in front of viewers looking for alternative ways to consume entertainment, bypassing the all-or-nothing cable/dish structure that we have now. If other established networks choose to remain on the sidelines, then any network signing on to this distribution method would have a higher profile in the beginning, increasing exposure, viewership and subsequently revenues.
Steve and Joseph know more about this business than I ever will, and I am sure they are well aware of what this profitable fruit company is trying to achieve. Who knows? Maybe it's one of the irons in the fire we here about.
Again, all speculation... But fun to think about as we move forward, getting turned on in new markets and getting ready for the new season.
GO ICPA!!!
