E-Rewards Network (ERNI) specializes in this area as well as loyalty reward programs and may stand to benefit from tech trend hitting bricks and mortar food stores. The company just launched its loyalty program/online order platform and as of August 26, 2013, ERNI launched its program in selected areas of Brooklyn, Queens, Manhattan, and Long Island. The program, which had been in its pilot phase since February 2013, has garnered 2,000 registered members since its start -- a number that expects to grow to around 10,000 over the next few months. Management expects “explosive” growth, also undoubtedly looking to gain from the online ordering trend in restaurant.

E-Rewards Network (ERNI) operates in the loyalty/rewards industry. It offers Earn IQ, a consumer loyalty platform coupled with marketing and advertising services for various industries. The company also provides consumers with opportunities to interact and engage with online and mobile products.
The online food ordering subsector has seen an increase in news flow over the summer, which is good news for ERNI investors, as interest in the sector is picking up following the May announcement of a merger between two of the top online food delivery services. Seamless and GrubHub announced plans to join forces as the former rivals announced plans to merge into one organization, letting Internet users in 500 U.S. cities order food online from more than 20,000 local takeout restaurants. Together, Seamless and GrubHub's online and mobile platforms sent approximately $875 million in gross food sales to local takeout restaurants last year, resulting in combined revenue in excess of $100 million.
The other big driver for ERNI is coming from consumers themselves as they are now combined with demanding more mobile meal options. That data point hasn’t gone unnoticed as an eye-popping 54% of restaurant owners say they'll invest more in technology, and that’s where ERNI comes in with its consumer rewards program/online ordering platform. With the program, consumers earn reward points for ordering with the Earn IQ program as well as being able to access menus and restaurants on the web for full online ordering. From the diner’s vantage point, they become part of a network where consumers go eat and creates a “stickiness” factor that otherwise would not be there.
The company has noted that coalition loyalty programs have proved to be very successful around the world, but this model has had considerable difficulty making head way in the U.S. given the fragmented market and the resources required to get such programs up and running. The company is hoping to change that with its program as compelling value propositions become harder to come by, the importance of coalition loyalty programs increases.
