If this video doesn’t make you smile, you might as well just forget it.
An Army sergeant returning early from duty in Afghanistan had a big surprise for his young wife this week when he popped out of a hot dog costume at the fourth-inning mascot race at a minor-league ball game on Coney Island.
Sgt. Shawn Jamieson , 26, rigged the surprise with 25 friends and relatives who lured his wife, Courtney, and the couple’s two daughters to a Brooklyn Cyclones game Tuesday at MCU Park.
One of three runners dressed as hot dogs, Jamieson won the race, then headed straight for Courtney, who’d been called to the field to greet the victor.
Then he took off the disguise in front of the cheering crowd.
“Are you surprised?”
Considering how the husband she thought was overseas has just appeared out of a hot dog on a baseball field in New York, it’s a safe bet.
“I was shocked,” Courtney Jamieson told the Daily News afterward. “I’m freaking out. I don’t know what to say.”
Jamieson had been expected to be home in September, but was approved to come early. He decided to take the opportunity to make for a memorable night.
“It’s awesome!” Jamieson said. “It was priceless. It was just great to see her so happy.”
