Stubborn 96-year-old tells teen robber to take Tootsie Rolls instead
She rebuffs attempt, offers Tootsie Rolls instead
Marshfield, WI. — Police say they've arrested two teenagers in the attempted robbery of a 96-year-old neighborhood grocery store owner in Marshfield.
Authorities say a 13-year-old Marshfield boy was the one who walked into Wolf's Grocery on July 15, flashed a knife and ordered Margarette Wolf to open her cash register.
Wolf told the boy that in no uncertain terms would she hand over the store's cash, but that he could take all the Tootsie Rolls he wanted. The attempted robber fled without getting a dime. The News-Herald said a 17-year-old boy was also arrested. Police said he encouraged the younger boy to commit the crime in order to get gas money for his car.
Wolf said if she had her way, the 13-year-old would be on his hands and knees scrubbing her floors with a toothbrush.
