In addition, Northern Orion Resources owns the Agua Rica copper, gold, and molybdenum project in Argentina and holds a 50% stake in the Mantua gold and copper project in Cuba. Yamana Gold, in 2007, bought Northern Orion in a planned three-way merger with Meridian Gold to create a company with a strong presence in South America and production of 1.5 million ounces of gold.
