Gold dealer testifies in FBC alleged murder case

A worker at Allied mining Company Mr. Dale Boulassa, on Wednesday gave evidence at the Freetown Magistrate court No.1 presided by Magistrate Steven Conteh in the trial of FBC students for the alleged murder of Mohamed Juana, during an initiation ceremony into the Island Club.
Mr. Dale Boulassa told the court that on the 20th December 2008, he was at his No. 54 b Lumley beach home which is about 300 yards away from Atlantic Beach with two of his friends and at about 4:30pm he saw a group of men who were wearing white shirts and the others who were wearing colored shirts.
He said according to his observation those wearing white T shirts were the initiates. Mr. Boulassa further testified that the initiates were lying on the ground with their faces to the sun whilst the initiators were moving round them kicking, slapping and punching them.
He said he observed the scene for 3 hours.
The witness agreed with Defense Lawyer Melron Nicol- Wilson in his cross examination that the initiates were drinking alcohol and he was also drinking alcohol with his friends while watching the initiation ceremony.
Lawyer Tejan Cole another defense lawyer asked the witness how long he intends to stay in Sierra Leone and he said he will stay for as long as he gets enough gold and run out of cash.
Another witness and also a new initiate of the Island club testified that he knew the deceased on the day of the initiation ceremony into the Island Cub at Lumley beach. He said they were involved in minor exercises, and drinking alcohol which was being served by the Chief Clerk Reginald until he fell asleep.
The matter was adjourned to the 21st April for further hearing.
