San Jose, CA, Aug. 5, 2013 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- This month, online fundraising platform Givium launched an Indiegogo campaign with the goal of raising $55,000. The money raised will be used to expand the company's sales and marketing efforts.
Givium is a new online fundraising service whose mission is to turn unwanted household items into donations for charities. Givium members buy and sell anything they no longer want - from clothes to furniture to gadgets - then promote the sale within their social network. At the end, they can donate a percentage of the proceeds to any one of Givium's participating charities. This new type of online service means that members get great prices, promote reuse and sustainability, and help charitable causes all at the same time. The service is free to join for members and charities.
The service officially launched today with 25 Charter Charities including the Easter Seals of New Jersey, The First Tee of Silicon Valley, National Firefighters Endowment, Oregon Amateur Sports Foundation, and the St. Baldrick's Foundation.
"Givium provides a place where friends can help each other, their community and the planet," said Givium Co-Founder Sean Wilcox. "Similar to Indiegogo, we leverage social networks and community support for the greater good. We are extremely excited to be partnering with Indiegogo to help fund our cause."
Givium is encouraging members of the public to donate money and spread the word through their social networks using these links in the Indiegogo campaign page: http://igg.me/at/givium .
