S&P 500 quits longest win streak since 2010
SAN FRANCISCO (MarketWatch) -- U.S. stocks ended mostly lower Monday, disrupting the S&P 500's (SNC:SPX) longest winning streak since Dec. 2010, after rebounding a bit in the last hour of trade. With no U.S. economic news, investors focused on a report showing Japan's economy decelerated in the latest quarter and headwinds facing European stimulus efforts. The Dow Jones Industrial Average (DJIJIA) lost 38.52 points, or 0.3%, to 13,169.43. The S&P 500 (SNC:SPX) lost 1.76 points, or 0.1%, to 1,404.11. The Nasdaq Composite (NASDAQ:COMP) ended up 1.66 points, or 0.1%, to 3,022.52, helped by gains in heavyweights Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) and Google Inc. (NASDAQ:GOOG) .
