Rendell to its Advisory Board, joining Robert F. Kennedy Jr. , and Congressman James Saxton . Governor Rendell served two terms as governor of Pennsylvania from 2003-2011. Prior to serving as chief executive of the nation's sixth most populous state, he served as Mayor of Philadelphia from 1992-2000, during which time he delivered five consecutive budget surpluses and received accolades for what The New York Times called "the most stunning turnaround in recent urban history." Governor Rendell was also elected and served as District Attorney of Philadelphia for two terms from 1978-1985. He currently serves as a distinguished senior fellow at the Brookings Institute and served as chairman of the Democratic National Committee during the 2000 presidential election. Governor Rendell also serves as a consultant and board member for several green and alternative energy firms, including Own Energy, Element Partners and Ocean Thermal Energy and has remained heavily involved in the campaign for government efficiency through his work with Government Sourcing Solutions, Public Financial Management and Greenhill Advisors.
