Hispanic Chamber Leaders Across the Country Benefit From USHCC Foundation "Chamber Training Institute" Program in San Jose, California

WASHINGTON, July 26, 2013 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- The United States Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (USHCC) Foundation, in partnership with Wells Fargo and the University of Notre Dame Mendoza School of Business, hosted the Chamber Training Institute in San Jose, California this week. Participants who completed the USHCC Foundation program - focused on social media best practices, specifically using Facebook and Twitter, to help businesses grow - received a certificate from the University of Notre Dame's Mendoza School of Business. A post-event survey revealed that over 80% of attendees indicated that they will use social media to promote chamber events. The same survey found that attendees gained an increased knowledge of available tools from Google to help businesses grow. Before the event, 48% of attendees did not know about these resources. After the session, 96% felt they could effectively communicate information about these resources to their members which could impact close to 12,000 Hispanic businesses around the country.

Participants represented over 20 Hispanic chambers from across the country. The USHCC Foundation Chamber Training Institute was created to help provide these types of unique educational opportunities to local chambers and foster the growth and development of Hispanic business leaders and entrepreneurs.

In addition to the training, the USHCC Foundation was proud to partner with Wells Fargo and the Silicon Valley Hispanic Chamber of Commerce in hosting a special reception and workshop on Growing Your Business in Today's Economy that included business owners and community leaders.

"The Chamber Training Institute is a valuable program created to strengthen our local chambers," said Javier Palomarez, President and CEO of the USHCC. "The social media training will assist our local leaders in California and across the country to promote chamber efforts, resources and accomplishments as well as educate their members on tools to grow their business. The USHCC is committed to ensuring our continued support for the fastest growing segment of America's entrepreneurs – Hispanic business owners."

"Wells Fargo is pleased to bring the USHCC Foundation Chamber Training Institute to San Jose," said Georgette Dixon, Wells Fargo Director of National Partnerships. "At Wells Fargo we are committed to helping business owners sustain and grow their businesses. We are thrilled to once again collaborate with the USHCC to provide local chamber leaders across the country with opportunities to sharpen their skills, enhance their leadership and better understand how to manage their finances more effectively."
