Comverge Executes Record Number of Demand Response Events to Help Combat Recent Heat Wave

NORCROSS, Ga., July 24, 2013 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Comverge, Inc., the leading provider of intelligent energy management solutions for residential and commercial and industrial (C&I) customers, today announced that it played a major role in maintaining a reliable electric grid during the recent heat waves that swept the nation. During the week of July 15, 2013, Comverge successfully executed a record 92 demand response events that curtailed energy use for hundreds of thousands of residential and C&I customers. The number of events, the highest during a single week in Comverge's 30-year history, further demonstrates the increasingly critical role that demand response is playing in the nation's energy mix.

Heat waves across various regions of the United States resulted in record temperatures across several states. The temperatures sent electricity demand soaring in many areas, with New York State's power grid operator recording record levels of demand. As the only demand response provider to deliver programs that support both residential and C&I customers, Comverge was able to help utilities across the country cost-effectively manage the peaks in demand. Comverge managed many of the 92 events using the IntelliSOURCE software platform, which enabled the company to quickly, reliably and cost-effectively manage thousands of data transactions without any interruptions in service.
