Free Summer Camp at Mt. Diablo Recycling! CONTRA C

CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, Calif., July 24, 2013 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Mt. Diablo Recycling (MDR) has a vision to educate the community to go beyond filling up recycling containers – by adopting new reuse habits that give recyclables many lifecycles. You can make your summer meaningful and fun while learning first hand about recycling. MDR is now offering free, two-hour summer camps every Thursday throughout the month of August at its facility located at 1300 Loveridge Road in Pittsburg, Calif.
The camps are from 10 a.m. to 12 noon and are for all ages—kids, parents, and grandparents are all welcome. This marks the first time that MDR has offered summer camps to the general public.
The camp includes presentations and tours of MDR's 90,000-square foot facility featuring the recycling machine (Big Blue) and his buddy, the baler (Big Wall-e), the 4R's (Reduce – Reuse – Recycle – Respect the Earth), and MDR's mascot, The Recycling Guy. Participants will learn how Big Blue works, discuss acceptable recycling material, play interactive games and make art out of reusable items. A healthy snack will also be provided to all participants.
The first camp session takes place August 1. Sign-ups are also available for the camps on August 8, 15, 22 and 29. Each camp will be limited to 30 people.
