Los Angeles, CA, July 23, 2013 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Founder, Jessica Welch announces the launch of The 3 Hearts Foundation, an international charity that aids single-parent families living below or near poverty line.
With the dedication to help single parents raise healthy and happy children. The 3 Hearts Foundation believes in equality and believe that a child raised by a single parent should be given the same basic rights and opportunitiesas any child raised with the benefits of having a traditional home with two parents.
There are 11.9 million single parents in the United States. 28% (20 million) of all children in the US under 18 live with one parent. More than 15 million children are unsupervised from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. During these hours juvenile crime triples. 78% of mothers with children the age of 6 to 13 work full-time and full-time daycare often cost as much as college tuition at a public university. The percentage of married couple families living in poverty is 6.2%. For single-parent households the poverty rate is 27.3%; for single mother households, the poverty rate is 29.9%. Research also shows that children born or raised in single-parent families are at higher risk for a variety of social ills, including welfare dependency, academic difficulties and criminal activity. by age 17, 81 % of children in single-parent households had experienced at least one year of poverty compared to 22 percent of children in traditional two-parent households.
The Foundation works hard to provide emergency assistance and basic necessities to families in need, including but not limited to food, shelter, emergency medical treatment, clothing and most importantly to let these single parent families know that they are not alone. Each family is different with unique struggles. Whether this includes helping them pay their rent, a delinquent electricity bill, food, providing the children basic school supplies or helping a single mother or father afford aftercare for her children so they don't go unsupervised while they work, The 3 Hearts Foundation is capable of giving a helping hand.
