Seeking sweet spot in China data
Commentary: No surprises may be best for markets
LOS ANGELES (MarketWatch) — It’s data day in China, and a positive reaction from the markets will depend on finding the sweet spot, where the numbers are not so weak as to suggest collapse but not so strong as to preempt government stimulus.
The first set of numbers will cover July inflation, both consumer and wholesale, and are expected to come out just as the Hong Kong and Shanghai stock markets open for trading.
Here, the message should be reassuring, in the sense that price gains will be low enough to allow the central bank room for more monetary easing. http://www.marketwatch.com/story/seeking-swee...2012-08-08
