Thats just not how it works buddy. They could use Preferred shares or restricted shares.
The new company being aquired could be given a seat on the board ect.
A TON OF OPTIONS HERE. For a very quiet company right now. Something has to give sooner or later. SS is still very tiny and she moves on air.
