I know some of you here are more versed in this area, this post from the Hub this morning is interesting. First, this is a huge strip of supposed claim area and if they are working it, they must have a permit. Do you think this is some kind of "grandfathered" area?

Can't imagine someone going thru what SFRX did for one small area permit for one about 60 miles long.

This was posted an hour ago. Someone found treasure this weekend.

A boat pitched in choppy waves about 50 yards from the beach as a diver surfaced at its stern, clutching two gold coins. These coins were the final “ka-ching” in a jackpot Saturday for a treasure-hunting crew. They scooped up 48 gold doubloons left there after 11 Spanish ships, carrying a fortune in gold, silver and jewels, sunk during a hurricane in 1715, giving the Treasure Coast its name. Call it an adventure in coin collecting .
For three centuries the gold escudos lay wedged between bedrock cracks, the same as other ocean debris. The coins are a valuable find, both historically and monetarily. They are worth about $200,000, estimates Brent Brisben, 45, who owns the shipwreck salvaging rights from 13 miles north of Sebastian to 13 miles south of Fort Pierce.
“Yeah, it was an awesome day,” Brisben said, adding that Saturday’s fortuitous find has inspired him. “We think we’re in a pretty good area where we’ll find more. We’re going out there and find the lost treasure.”
