Scared of militants, cops gave up search in Jammu and Kashmir Crime branch sleuths, who claimed to have shot 'terrorists' in a fierce gun battle during the Ishrat Jahan encounter in 2004, were apparently reluctant to visit areas in Jammu & Kashmir where firing was taking place between security forces and militants.
