2:19 PM A French court gives telecom regulator ARCEP the go-ahead to investigate AT&T ( T ) and Verizon's ( VZ ) interconnection deals with fellow carriers. ARCEP is interested in AT&T/Verizon's possible violation of net neutrality principles by charging carriers for heavy traffic loads (often stemming from video services such as Netflix and YouTube). Interestingly, ARCEP has the green light to probe AT&T/Verizon's non-EU activities as part of its efforts, to the extent they affect French Web users. The ruling comes amidst a dispute between Verizon and U.S. carrier Cogent over Netflix traffic, and EU raids on the offices of European carriers regarding possible interconnection abuses........(from Alpha)
