Elisa Di Francisca d'Italia vince la medaglia d'oro olimpica nel Fioretto Individuale
Elisa Di Francisca ha vinto l'oro nel fioretto individuale di scherma alle Olimpiadi il Sabato, battendo Arianna Errigo 12-11 nei tempi supplementari di una finale tutta italiana.
Di Francisca, che era del 2010 campione del mondo, sconvolto top-ranked Nam Hyun-Hee della Corea del Sud con lo stesso punteggio in semifinale.
"Questo è molto emozionante per me," ha detto Di Francisca. "La finale è stata molto, molto difficile. Sono andato da 'Voglio vincere' a 'Non voglio vincere' a 'voglio vincere.' Avevo solo paura di vincere. Errigo è un giocatore molto forte e sappiamo entrambi che così bene. "
Di Francisca cambiato le sue tattiche per la finale e ha scelto un approccio meno attacco che nelle sue precedenti partite.
"Normalmente, io gioco più come una tigre, ma in finale mi sono calmato", ha detto Di Francisca.
In semifinale gli altri, Errigo ha battuto tre volte campione uscente Valentina Vezzali 15-12, negando il suo compagno di squadra italiano un cambiamento di diventare la prima atleta donna a vincere l'oro individuale in quattro Olimpiadi consecutive.
Vezzali poi ha vinto una battaglia tesa per il bronzo contro il 13-12 Nam.
"E 'stata una dura battaglia per la medaglia di bronzo, ma alla fine sono riuscito a farlo, anche se il mio obiettivo era, naturalmente, per ottenere il mio oro, quarto di fila", ha detto Vezzali, mentre la lotta lacrime. "Volevo vincere l'oro quarto così male."
Il 38-year-old Vezzali ha vinto l'oro in tutte le Olimpiadi dal 2000. Con un'altra medaglia d'oro, avrebbe eguagliato il record detenuto da tre atleti maschi - velista danese Paul Elvstrom, discus lanciatore Al Oerter e lungo il ponticello Carl Lewis, sia degli Stati Uniti.
Vezzali ancora ottenuto una standing ovation dalla folla dopo il ritorno 12-8 giù contro Nam. Ha pareggiato nella seconda finale dei nove minuti di regolamentazione prima di vincere la morte improvvisa punto nel tempo supplementare.
"E 'stato solo 10 minuti dopo ho perso la possibilità di una medaglia d'oro", ha detto. "E 'stato difficile essere motivati ??di nuovo. Devo ringraziare tutti gli italiani tra il pubblico, che sono stati un grande sostegno per me. "
Vezzali, che è stato il portabandiera per il tempo italiano alla cerimonia di apertura di Venerdì, respinto l'ipotesi che la possibilità di perdere per un altro oro potrebbe segnare la fine della sua illustre carriera. Lei non ha escluso in concorso al Olimpiadi del 2016 in Brasile.
Come il top-ranked donna al mondo, Vezzali ha iniziato come favorito nella competizione pellicola. Il suo primo vero test è venuto nei quarti di finale contro Ines Boubakri della Tunisia, una partita ha vinto 8-7 nei tempi supplementari.
Dopo aver segnato il punto decisivo, cadde sulla schiena in festa e gridò con entusiasmo.
"Oggi era molto difficile", ha detto Vezzali. "Per me, è la quinta Olimpiade e la pressione di vincere stava costruendo sempre di più."
La sua speranza del record olimpico sono stati poi distrutto dal Errigo, la cui medaglia d'argento nella sua prima Olimpiade non farla troppo eccitato.
"Il mio sogno era la medaglia d'oro quindi sono triste", ha detto Errigo. "Per perdere la finale di un punto non è bello. Ma devo essere felice per questo. "
Lo sweep del podio rende l'Italia un favorito forte per il titolo in caso sventare la squadra femminile.
"In Giochi Olimpici, tutto è possibile", ha detto Vezzali. "Vediamo cosa succede".
