Drano, I live part of the year in the Sangre de Cristo mountains of Colorado. We have 90-100 mile per hour winds that come from time to time and wreck the power feed, sometimes for over a week. We have a lot of money invested in frozen foods etc. Our answer was to bite the bullet and invest in a standby generator which is not cheap but gives us piece of mind 360 days a year. My suggestion, bite the bullet.
