According to the US Department of Energy’s (USDE) value from “Sector-Specific Issues and Reporting Methodologies Supporting the General Guidelines for the Voluntary Reporting of Greenhouse Gases” under Sections 1605(b) of the Energy Policy Act of 1992, estimates there to be approximately 700 trees per acre in a forest.
Between both the estimated value per log and the number of trees provided as estimates by HIMR and the USDE, respectively, the computations result in some rather staggering figures. Thus, for the sake of managing expectations and keeping our feet firmly planted on the ground, calculations have been adjusted to reflect only 50% of the estimated value per tree and just 5% of the USDE’s estimates [tree per acre]. This would equate to $750 per log and 35 trees per acre.
