(8) New "Direct-To-Video" Thriller Genre Film Acquisitions
Hannover House Builds on Core Strengths with Sci-Fi and Horror Film Acquisitions
LOS ANGELES, CA, 6/20/2013 7:45:00 AM -
Hannover House, Inc. (HHSE) has announced an immediate increase in the company's output of film releases to the home video and video-on-demand markets, with the greatest level of new activity occurring with science-fiction, thrillers and horror titles. Eight new releases will begin hitting the retail home video shelves as early as October, fueled by new corporate funding from TCA Global and ongoing retailer support generated from consistent sales success with prior Hannover House releases.
Recently released sci-fi and horror DVD titles from Hannover House include "Zombie Warz", "Humans vs. Zombies", "Boggy Creek" and "Patient Zero," with major retailer support that has included Wal-Mart, Redbox, Netflix and Blockbuster, among many other national retailers and independent video dealers. The newly acquired slate of films is expected to fit nicely into the current programming plans for the company's key accounts.
"Consumers love science-fiction and horror titles," said Eric Parkinson, Hannover House C.E.O. "Thrillers are widely popular, retail-friendly and a very profitable category for the company to grow. From a standpoint of doing-more-of-what-works-best for Hannover House, an expansion of our release activities for sci-fi, horror and thrillers makes a lot of sense."

In addition to these eight genre releases, Hannover House has also recently acquired six additional titles including two urban-action films, two mainstream action films, and two dramatic features. These new acquisitions have benefitted from Hannover's recently announced financing agreement with TCA Global, which facilitates funding for new acquisitions, marketing, manufacturing and releasing costs. Ten additional titles (previously acquired but pending release) round out the company's slate of new titles scheduled from October, 2013 through March, 2014.
Hannover House is a full-service entertainment distribution company, with activities in all major media for filmed-entertainment (including theatrical, home video, video-on-demand and television). The company was founded twenty years ago in 1993 as a book publisher, with DVD products added in 2002 and theatrical activities added in 2008. The company's primary office is located in Northwest Arkansas, as a strategic location near Wal-Mart Stores, Inc., the largest purchaser of entertainment products in the world (with a USA market share of more than 50% of all studio DVD sales, according to Home Media Magazine).
The company has recently scaled back its activities with mid-level, theatrically released titles due to a financial analysis which showed that a greater return-on-investment was being generated from a "direct-to-video" release model. Except for three "tentpole" major releases each year, the theatrical campaigns for upcoming Hannover House titles will likely be limited to key markets or specific screen-counts as may be needed for ancillary contract requirements.
In the book publishing field, Hannover House has three print edition new releases set for 2013, and five e-book format releases. The new print edition books are "One of the Lucky Ones" by Brenda Hancock (the authorized biography of her mother, Nicole Holland, who as a young girl in France during World War II, fought in the French Resistance while disguising her Jewish heritage); "Blind Vision" from best-selling author Vivian Kaplan (based on the true story of a Jewish exodus out of Spain and western Europe, and subsequent adoption of Christianity for societal survival); and "Sable Shore" a debut novel from James Danielson (about a man's mid-life crisis slamming head-on with a murder mystery twist). Previous Hannover House book releases have generated substantial sales and acclaim, including a #1 charting national best-seller (Barr McClellan's "Blood, Money & Power: How LBJ Killed JFK") and the critically-praised, supernatural suspense-thriller, "Quietus" by Vivian Schilling.
