Let me afford you a special opportunity here to understand how a MM with large order deals with them from an "old school broker".
The MM usually controls the bid and the ask while collecting large blocks of shares. His job is to get the best price for the client. This may take one day or several depending on the order. Or, he just might fill the order for the client (short) and attempt to buy the shares cheaper by manipulation.
I believe you're thinking online broker action. It's 2 different animals....
They are not trading the stock and those who are buying don't know the PPS on a daily basis.
