Watch list for me.

Seeking Alpha story>>

Zeinal Bava is the new CEO of Oi SA ( OIBR ). He came from Portugal Telecom SGPS ( PT ), and had done an excellent job in the five years he had been leading it. Oi is a major Brazilian telecommunications company where PT itself has 26% of its share capital. This change reflects the development of the alliance between the two groups, which now have a global project, which may result in the merger of both. More than anything this appointment offers hope to those who believe in Oi's great potential.

The company's shareholding structure was simplified through several mergers. At this point, Portugal Telecom is part of a group of shareholders controlling 56% stake in Oi.

Oi provides fixed-line and mobile telecommunication services in the most important states of Brazil. It also provides long-distance telecommunication services, data transmission services, and direct to home (DTH) satellite television services throughout Brazil.

In early 2012, the company has broadened the scope of services that it offers to corporate clients to include information technology infrastructure services, seeking to offer customers end-to-end solutions. In December 2012, Oi launched an offering of subscription television services on fiber optic network using an Internet protocol, or IP TV, in Rio de Janeiro.
