From what I am finding JB, the timber business is big business and corrupt as well. Bribery for consideration on any project seems more the norm than the exception. Powerful groups primarily from Asia are deeply involved in nearly every country. It appears the greatest desire for rare and exotic timber currently comes from Asia, where they are willing and able to pay top dollar for all they can get. While the bulk of exotic lumber may still go to America and Great Britain, that flow seems more dependent on construction than anything. Regardless of where the timber eventually ends up, it appears it must first pass through an Asian distributor. The amount of money to be made in logging is staggering, really staggering, and in my opinion largely accounts for the corruption. And to this the fact that most undeveloped countries have little regulation and even less enforcement, and the industry is open for manipulation by the unsavory. The good news for Hollund is that no one else has yet mastered the art of underwater logging, so this niche industry is wide open and ripe for the taking. IMO
