Seel, the shorts don't pull out fast. Look at today who was helping them? The nickel and dime traders and those 'evil' MM's (with four phones in the ear- as usual). There was not enough buy volume to push the sp where it really wanted to go ($2.20 IMHO). But things don't look good for Shorts now.
If I was a short now, I would only hope that ACSO presentation would not be, OR seen as, anything significant news wise. Then there is a chance for a short attack and scare the weak hands out of their shares. In that scenario MM's will also be stealing shares with those with 'stop-loss' sell orders.
From what I see is the shorts days will soon be over. Everything hinges on the news from ASCO and the perception of how good it is. Volume is the key. If we get over a 1m in buy volume the MM's will have to step aside and the shorts will be covering as the game will be up at that time. Oh, they will be back and watch them at $2.50 and especially $3.00.
Where ever they feel weakness in buying they will come in. However, I see them covering as they made a bunch of money shorting from $2.47 down to $1.60. Heavy volume, fresh buyers that keep buying, will short circuit a short. It will make them cover and the sp will reach higher highs faster than anything you have seen. Now they are nervous, and for good reason. I would not want to be short CTIX now.
Great News w/ heavy volume, activates 'Short Covering'. SP goes....Rocket-Ship.
That's when shorts help the Longs and the charts get redrawn.
