"In January, federal auditors ordered LG Chem to pay back $842,000 of its $150 million federal grant, saying the company had improperly used the money to pay up to 200 employees who volunteered at local nonprofits, played games and watched movies.
LG Chem’s plant east of Holland is one of two lithium ion battery plants in the Holland area. The other facility, operated by Johnson Controls Inc. (JCI) has been making batteries for the past two years."
