Xena, I believe you are right. GOSY's SafePath wheelchair is a game changer for the wheelchair industry.
Here's the historic metaphor:
When PC's were first introduced, the typewriter manufacturers foolishly believe that a PC word processor was just a "fancy" typewriter. They missed the multifunction benefits of the PC. Same thing with present power wheelchairs. At best, present power wheelchairs are IBM "ball" typewriters, but never could do budgeting with spreadsheets or mailing list management, etc. Same thing with a present, dumb power wheelchair.
GOSY's SafePath wheelchair can be upgraded to be voice controlled, give medication reminders, provide video conferencing, and "know" where to go, automatically, without any active steering by the user at all.
So just as we no longer see typewriters much, due to their diminished value and utility in comparison with PC's, "dumb" power wheelchairs are now on their way to not being relevant in the market place. In high volume, I suspect basic SafePath enablement will be only a few hundred dollars per wheelchair. Remember, "correcting" typewriters being sold for less than a grand were clobbered by multipurpose PC's selling for a couple grand or more!
Now we get to see if the present wheelchair manufacturers learn from history, or just respeat the same mistakes and end up irrelevant and bankrupt.
