LGS Innovations™, an independent subsidiary of Alcatel-Lucent (NYSE and Euronext Paris: ALU) today announced it has been selected for a multiple-award blanket purchase agreement (BPA) by the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) to expand and improve its wireless local area network (WLAN) infrastructure. The BPA was awarded under the GSA Schedule 70 vehicle and has a maximum value of $2.9 million over three years.
Under the terms of the BPA, and when selected for individual project awards, LGS will provide program support for the expansion and improvement of the USGS' WLAN infrastructure including hardware, software, design services, installation, maintenance, repair, and warranty support at any of the USGS' approximately 200 sites.
“The improved WLAN infrastructure will advance the mission of this science organization by providing authorized visitors and staff seamless and secure access to the Internet and the USGS Intranet,” said LGS Innovations CEO Kevin Kelly. “While this contract is national in scope, LGS’ regional approach and use of qualified local assets will result in a significant costs savings for USGS.”
To support the USGS, LGS has partnered with Aruba Networks, Inc. (NASDAQ:ARUN), a leading provider of next-generation network access solutions for the mobile enterprise, to provide the wireless networking equipment and device access management software.
“Aruba Networks has a long history of delivering FIPS-certified mobility access and management solutions to U.S. Federal Government agencies,” said Jay Hatch, Vice President, Federal, for Aruba Networks. “Our best-in-class solutions can now provide USGS network users with secure, high performing wireless communications wherever they work or roam.”
