Julian C. Baker has served as a director of Trimeris since April 2004. Mr. Baker is a Managing Member of Baker Bros. Advisors, LLC, which he and his brother, Felix Baker, Ph.D., founded in 2000. Mr. Baker's firm manages Baker Brothers Investments, a family of long-term investment funds for university endowments and foundations, which are focused on publicly-traded life sciences companies. Mr. Baker's career as a fund-manager began in 1994 when he co-founded a biotechnology investing partnership with the Tisch Family. Previously, Mr. Baker was employed from 1988 to 1993 by the private equity investment arm of Credit Suisse First Boston Corporation. He is also a director of Incyte Corporation, and Genomic Health, Inc. Mr. Baker was previously a director of Neurogen Corporation until December 2009. Mr. Baker holds an A.B. magna cum laude from Harvard University. We believe Mr. Baker's qualifications to serve on the Board of Directors include his experience in the field of finance and his extensive knowledge of the biopharmaceutical industry.
