Google Nexus 7 starts shipping in the UK
THE CHEAP AND CHEERFUL Google Nexus 7 tablet has started shipping in the UK through Currys and PC World.
The Asus built tablet is available to buy on the retailers' online store, with the web site promising that it now has stock. Currys and PC World are only selling the higher end 16GB model at present, which will set customers back £199.99.
However, the tablet is not yet in stock at the Google Play store, where shipping is expected within "one to two weeks". This will no doubt irk eager customers who pre-ordered the Nexus 7 at Google Play following the Google I/O Conference, as they would have been better off ordering from a retailer.
Google told us it couldn't give a specific release date just yet, even worse news for those keen to get their mitts on the tablet.
Given its price it's worth waiting for though, as the Nexus 7 features a Nvidia 1.3GHz quad-core processor along with a 7in HD touchscreen and Google's Android 4.1 Jelly Bean operating system.
The tablet also has a 1.2MP front-facing camera, NFC and WiFi connectivity, Google's Chrome web browser and deep Google Play store integration.
