Since the messages have been so cryptic this morning, and I for one wonder what is going on, I have a question/suggestion.
1) Do the MOD's have the ability (the system functionality) to amend posts?
2) Hoping any posts that are being deleted are due to the foulest of foul language, but because they were deleted no one knows... why couldn't the MOD's delete just the inappropriate content of the "offending" message and replace the offending text with the reason the text was deleted. OR... better yet, simply deleted the inappropriate words and leave the context of the text be posted.
It concerns me that I (and perhaps others) are being spoon-fed information that someone else thinks I can or need to see. As has happened in the past (example Joey11) readers of this board decide what is appropriate or inappropriate by voicing their opinions via rebuttal posts. AND... of course there is always the option for readers to block posters they deem to be offensive to them. But what is offensive to one, may not be offensive to someone else, or maybe many others.
When censorship is mentioned, it usually gets people upset... however we are all adults here and I think the subject can and should be discussed openly and rationally. Just about everyone who is active on this board detests the censorship that goes on over on LieHub, yet it is apparently happening right here on this board also.
Just like the lack of information about Steve and Joesph leads to wild speculation and likely incorrect assumptions... so does censorship of posts. Maybe if the reasoning for deletion were explained (on a post by post basis), readers could feel better that they are getting the WHOLE picture instead of something less. If the posts can not be edited, perhaps the deleting MOD could post a post explaining the deletion reasoning. It doesn't seem fair that a few can decide what many can see.
Again... sorry for picking the scab, but in order for the wound to heal sometime unpleasant things need to be done.
