According to Dr. Chih-Lin I, chief scientist at the China Mobile Research Institute (CMRI) in Beijing, C-RAN technology is expected to significantly reduce capex and opex for service providers looking to achieve high capacity, power-efficient and cost-effective wireless networks. Other C-RAN benefits demonstrated by the CMRI studies include lower energy consumption, simpler system rollout, and superior service levels to users.
