NEW YORK, NY--(Marketwired - Apr 24, 2013) - Schoology, the leading cloud-based, collaborative learning platform for K-20 classrooms, today announced the launch of its IMS LTI v1.1 compliant integration. Learning Tools Interoperability, or LTI, is a sign-on standard that allows access to web-based resources from a growing number of LTI compliant vendors. Schoology's LTI integration allows these cross-vendor resources to be accessed throughout the platform and viewed directly on the platform.
Schoology's LTI integration, coming shortly after the release of its SIS Integration Platform in January 2013, is another step toward the open exchange of data between education technology vendors. The platform also champions the sharing of educator-made instructional resources in its massive Public Resource Repository and collaboration-based interface. Launching LTI compatibility further strengthens Schoology's capacity to empower more than two million users with access to an even broader range of educational content.
"We are really excited to support LTI," explains Jeremy Friedman, CEO and Founder of Schoology. "Educators deserve more access to high quality content in a more tightly integrated instructional experience, and this is another step for us in making that happen."
In addition, LTI is a force of attraction to content vendors who are hesitant to build integrations with specific companies because of the level of interoperability achieved with a single integration. By joining other vendors in promoting a standardized and streamlined integration process, Schoology continues its pursuit to provide education technology vendors with the ideal environment for open integration. The result that Schoology expects is a more extensive integrated network of tools and resources to better equip students, teachers, and administrators worldwide.
