We had a neighbor with a hill along side their yard. This was Lakeview in Waltham. It went up to the neighborhood on the hill behind their house and formed a trail. The snow plow would create a bank along the road in front of this house. We would have a kid watch for cars and walk all the way to the top of the path/hill up to the other neighborhood. Then the kid below would yell "GO". We would saucer or sled or toboggan down that hill doing 60 mph without knowing if a car would be coming by the time we hit the bottom or not. We would go airborne off the snowplowed bank and into the street. If a car did come we would bail and roll, skid, use the feet, etc. Focking nuts! Not only wouldn't the oncoming car be able to stop in time due to ice and snow but we might slam into it's side or clear the top of it after hitting the bank. Now if I were the driver today and almost hit a kid doing that; boy would I be the biggest hypocrite! LOL! Yes baseball and football after school and weekends growing up. Played baseball until I was 19 and intra-state as well and softball into my mid 20's. My younger brother made it to single A for the Cinncinatti farm club. Cut the first year but he was a star in high school and after.
