B ombing suspect dies after gun battle.
Boston police say one suspect from this week's marathon bombing is dead and another is on the run after a gun battle in suburban streets.
The FBI released photos this morning showing two men wanted over the deadly bombings: one wearing a black cap at the time of the explosions, and one a white cap.
A university police officer was shot dead hours later on campus at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in nearby Cambridge.
As police were responding to the shooting, reports emerged of a carjacking involving two men who fired at police with automatic weapons and detonated explosive devices in the suburb of Watertown.
After hours of speculation, police have confirmed the "black cap" bombing suspect was killed in the confrontation with police.
Suspect two remains at large, with police warning he is armed and dangerous.
Residents in a number of suburbs have been advised to not leave their homes and all public transport services have been suspended.
