I believe HLNT made a strategic decision to go with a professional marketing approach (AHS) vs the small dealer model and Joe is bucking that decision. Maybe down the road the individual dealer/installers will take off (Carndog?) but first the market primacy of HLNT will be made.
Tyson, Ryder, Penske, Halliburton must be established first and Joe will not be able to do this. Bill Cunetta has that ability.
I agree with you that this seems to be the course management has decided to take. However, I think it is unfortunate that they discount the value of smaller lot and individual sales. I understand the motivation behind protecting the technology, but the process is already known and much more of a delay and someone else is bound to eventually bring something to market.
Considering the there is a lot of snake oil concerns regarding this technology, market penetration may be easier by first targeting the independent, small business sales than the Fortune 500 companies. To use a baseball analogy: Home runs are exciting and help to win some games. But games are truly won by batters effectively grinding out base hits and walks.
The awe-inspiring "fleet deal" is nice to wish for, but I think the ability to leverage the connections of Bill Cunetta have been significantly overestimated.
I'm hoping for more USA Metals sized deals and would expect more to close at that size before any single deals in-excess of 150 units occur.
