depulsio Selects Arbor Networks as Lead Provider for DDoS Mitigation Service

BURLINGTON, MA--(Marketwired - Apr 16, 2013) - Arbor Networks , Inc., a leading provider of network security and management solutions for enterprise and service provider networks, today announced that depulsio, a German managed security services provider of cloud-based distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) protection for networks, systems, applications and websites, has deployed Arbor Networks' security solutions in its private cloud to help protect itself and its customers from the growing threat of cyber attacks targeting data centers.

Following a successful partnership with Arbor, depulsio selected Arbor's Peakflow® SP to help provide protection in its private cloud, and Arbor's Pravail® Availability Protection System (APS) to help provide protection in its customer data center. Combined, these solutions help depulsio's customers detect and mitigate attacks ranging from small application-layer attacks to large volumetric DDoS attacks. It also helps keep depulsio's own network up and running and better protected from DDoS attacks.

"DDoS attacks are one of the biggest cyber threats we are seeing today and it is imperative that our customers are sufficiently protected," said Harald Krimmel, senior consultant at depulsio. "Our customers require 99.9999% availability at all times and in order to better address this, we identified the need to provide them with best-in-class DDoS protection services. With Arbor's technology, we'll be better able to provide the protection for our cloud-based and on-premise applications that our customers demand."

"Recognizing the serious threat that DDoS attacks pose not only to their customers, but also to their own network and systems, depulsio is making a smart move by deploying our technology both in their own private cloud and within their customer data center," said Michael Tullius, country manager, Germany, for Arbor Networks. "With Arbor's technology in place, depulsio will be able to address the issue of availability for their own customers while also improving their own overall security offerings."

Arbor's Enterprise and Data Center Solutions Help Deliver Availability & Investment Protection What makes Arbor's Pravail APS such an important product for enterprise and data center operators is that it not only helps protect against availability threats such as application-layer DDoS attacks, but it also helps provide investment protection for the existing security infrastructure. For example, firewalls and Intrusion Prevention Systems (IPS) are designed for important security problems outside of DDoS, such as stopping unauthorized access to critical resources, enforcing corporate security policies and preventing data loss. These all remain critical security problems. What has changed is that availability itself is now under assault and requires a solution designed specifically for today's complex DDoS problem.

Arbor's ISP/Carrier Solutions Deliver Integrated Threat Detection and Mitigation The vast majority of the world's leading service providers, and many of the largest enterprise networks, rely on Arbor's Peakflow SP platform to help proactively fend off malicious threats such as botnets, as well as high-bandwidth and application-layer DDoS attacks while strengthening the availability and quality of their services. Arbor's Peakflow SP platform includes two main components, Peakflow SP and the Threat Management System (TMS). Peakflow SP combines network-wide anomaly detection and traffic engineering with TMS's carrier-class threat management, which automatically detects and surgically removes only attack traffic while maintaining legitimate business traffic. The Peakflow SP platform powers many of the world's leading cloud-based DDoS managed security services.
