S.Africa's SAPREF refinery to shut for maintenance from April JOHANNESBURG (Reuters) - South Africa's 180,000 barrels-per-day SAPREF refinery, jointly owned by Shell and BP, will shut down for nine weeks from April 26 for planned maintenance, the department of energy said on Friday. The department added unforeseen technical issues at other refineries in South Africa may lead to unplanned shutdowns and impact production of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG). LPG shortages regularly hit Africa's largest economy as supplies are constrained by the lack of sufficient import capacity.
