Running for -- and Giving to -- a Good Cause With San Francisco Marriott

SAN FRANCISCO, CA--(Marketwired - Apr 11, 2013) -   In San Francisco, there's no shortage of things to do, from enjoying a game with the World Series Champion Giants or walking the streets of Chinatown to an Alcatraz visit or picnic at Golden Gate Park. But for one weekend in April, it's all about movement and music with the inaugural Rock N' Roll Half Marathon. The San Francisco Marriott Fisherman's Wharf was proud to be an official headquarter hotel for the April 7 th event, and took it a step further with some musical philanthropy to help children.

Keeping with the theme of the race weekend, the hotel donated a portion of the proceeds from group accommodations, in the amount of $500.00, to Ear Candy. An organization dedicated to providing youth access to music education with donated instruments and more, Ear Candy impacts over 15,000 students each year by connecting music teachers and their students to donors and resources in their communities.

With music along the course, a two-day fitness expo and a Finish Line festival, the Rock N' Roll half marathon is more than a race -- it's an event. Part of the Rock N' Roll Marathon Series, April 7, 2013 marked the event's first time in San Francisco. It took place along the beautiful San Francisco piers and waterfront, including a run by the Golden Gate Bridge , the race festivities began at 7AM.

Less than half a mile from the starting line, the San Francisco Marriott Fisherman's Wharf was a perfect location to start -- and finish -- the race day. Conveniently located near Pier 39 , the Golden Gate Bridge, Ghirardelli Square, the North Beach District, the famous cable cars and other exciting attractions, the hotel was an easy choice for business and leisure guests alike.

Guests can delight in this San Francisco Fisherman Wharf hotel's chic, inviting lobby, decadent dining and 285 elegant guestrooms, complete with Marriott Revive® bed and hypo-allergenic down comforters.
