Looks to me like management has set up the next several months for a series of positive updates and news regarding leronlimab. In addition to “breaking news” about Clover at ESMO and ASCO, this should include I Spy trial details, a BTD decision on the triplet, TNBC EAP updates, AD and HIV info, preclinical stroke and glio studies, the safety review, and the initiation or at least updates on new cancer trials (the pancreatic study at Mayo (!) perhaps the most important, at least in terms of legitimizing leronlimab and the company).
I agree with Hanman’s observation that Cytodyn has been deliberately playing it cool lately, more or less since the April conference. And I don’t think that’s about playing down expectations, or having nothing to talk about. It’s more like managing expectations, and setting up the company for a sustainable move into a prominent position in cutting-edge oncology. I expect to see a lot of positive press releases from Cytodyn in the months between late October and late January. Building momentum until we be movin’ like a freight train going into ASCO…
Even with stellar data—it won’t be easy. Shorty is preparing for ESMO, too… probably licking their chops. And the BioPharma lackey-press—Stat News, BioSpace—they are all ginned up to talk breathlessly about the Merck/Moderna vaccines (Presidential Plenary Presentation) and BOT/BAL from Agenus (3 abstracts including 3 year survival data in 3rd-line MSS mCRC).
So the Clover data may or may not make a splash. Complete Responses would get noticed… and I’m looking forward to seeing if that happens with those six patients with 97% or better reductions in ctDNA. But October might be early for the Clover 12. Dr Kasi certainly carries weight, and may attract attention, especially if we get a presentation versus a poster. But we don’t need to be the Big Fish at ESMO—we need to catch the eyes of Big Pharma decision-makers, as well as oncologist’s in the know. I am confident we will do that.
Will we be the one-ton tuna at ASCO in January? That is more likely in my opinion. Mature data including Complete Responses would advance the cause considerably. But ESMO is the place to get the ball rolling, followed by a sustained campaign of good news and momentum-building leading into ASCO. That would be my road map out of the pink sheets, and onto the big stage with the heavies. I’m confident management sees this, and sees it more clearly than I, and is preparing to make it happen. We will see soon enough if they earned their bonuses.
