We are not philanthropists. We are individual investors with individual goals and needs. Despite promises to the contrary Cytodyn has ignored us for the most part, failing even to throw a bone of gentle communication to the investor class. There is a difference between Cytodyn, the company, and CYDY, the stock. If we're honest, some of us can admit that we first "took a flyer" on CYDY because Charlie Sheen lauded the benefits of PRO-140 in treating his HIV. We thought we were investing in a true wonder drug for HIV. In fact it may well be if the pipeline information on the website is to be believed. However, strange and ominous events (deception, illegal exaggeration, COVID) intervened. Long story short, Cytodyn became an oncology company.
Interpretation of the science, preliminary results, and incredible anecdotes by Cytodyn management and the more learned of us here, has been nothing less than spectacular. Others may not say it, but I will say it. As a lay person, individual investor, I am often overwhelmed by the science, the alphabet soup of letters, and the professional jargon. However, I have learned so much despite my limited frame of reference.
I am delighted at the progress that has been made in treated mss triple negative breast cancer and mss CRC. See I can use acronyms too. I have the greatest respect for Dr. Jay and his team. My gut feeling is that these are good people with the best of intentions. I have a better understanding of the misery these and other cancers cause. Like all of you, I check daily to see what, if any, progress has been made. I voraciously read any testimonial of individuals who have benefited from Leronlimab. I am proud of what has been accomplished to date.
However, my satisfaction is not complete in the therapeutic nature of Leronlimab. Cytodyn is not a charity. Like many boomers I support a number of charities with many dollars. I recognize them as charities and expect nothing in return except the satisfaction that I have attempted to do something good. That is not why I invested in Cytodyn and, judging from sentiment on this board, neither did many of you. Before I sign off on modest, but still lucrative bonuses, I would like to hear why I should approve those bonuses. Is that too much to ask?
What I need, and venture to say, what others investors need, is some connection between Cytodyn the oncology/inflammation company and CYDY the stock in which I invested. If you recall, once NP was dismissed, the board promised to improve communication with investors. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe we were to receive quarterly communication. Instead we have Investor Relations that relates nothing. We have FAQ that has is NAQ (never answered questions). Worst, we have a share price that may "spike" to the .30-.40 range, perhaps once a year, and then dips to .20 or lower. The price action is tolerated because "we believe in the science". However, there has been little or no effort to connect the science to those goals of individual investors. Really, aren't we somewhat exhausted by "buying opportunities"?
Some here are wealthy. Logic tells me that most of us are not. There is nothing wrong with investing in a speculative venture with promise, in hopes of achieving something special in your lifetime. It is ignorance of this truth that disturbs many of us.
