Rethinking Pancreatic Cancer Care @ Digestive Disease Week
As we gear up to return to DDW this May for the third consecutive year, our focus is on one of oncology’s most urgent challenges: pancreatic_cancer, as we are currently advancing a US multi-center trial for patients suffering from this terrible disease.
Each year, more than 67,000 people in the United States are diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. Because the disease often progresses without clear symptoms, most patients are diagnosed at an advanced stage, leaving limited treatment options. This reflects not only a medical challenge, but the limitations of current standard of care.
Our initial clinical work focused on superficial tumors where AlphaDaRT® demonstrated strong efficacy together with a favorable safety profile. These results provided the strong basis to expand into internal organs, where clinical need is greatest, including to pancreatic cancer, given the significant unmet need and limited effective treatment options.
Alpha DaRT was developed with the aim to expand patients’ treatment options and maximize their quality of life. By enabling an image-guided intra-pancreatic approach to radiotherapeutics, designed for direct delivery into the tumor through standard EUS needles, the treatment can potentially be integrated into existing clinical practice. Importantly, it is designed to align with current standard of care, including chemotherapy, as an additive treatment rather than a replacement, without forcing patients and physicians to choose between competing options.
At DDW 2026, we are proud to show how far we have come. Three years ago, we arrived with a small team. This year underscores the progress made since then, both in clinical development and in growing interest from the clinical community. On May 2, as part of the session “Pancreatic Cancer I: Diagnosis and Treatment,” the program will include a presentation .
On May 3, Alpha Tau will host a very special evening event that includes a cruise and a gala dinner, in which we will provide attendees with a deeper look at our progress and vision. I also be available together with members of our leadership team throughout the conference.
Pancreatic cancer remains one of the most challenging diseases we face. Expanding effective treatment options is essential, and Alpha DaRT, through an innovative approach to radiotherapeutics, may potentially help us take a huge step forward in finally confronting this challenge.
