"I think this is fantastic. This is what I like about San Antonio. There's so much good data in the poster sessions compared to even some of the plenaries some years. This is what it's all about. And who knew that a chemokine receptor could be a target in breast cancer? Nobody would have thought about that.
But in hindsight, there is preclinical data showing that chemokines are bad for solid tumors, increasing proliferation, motility, invasion, and metastasis. So you can block those phenotypes as one mechanism of action of leronlimab, which is impressive. And then perhaps even more exciting is you've demonstrated in a translational fashion in humans that the preclinical data showing upregulation of PD-L1 by leronlimab in the lab happens in people.
And so turning cold to hot has been a long sought-after phenotype goal in immunotherapy of breast cancer. So this may well have an immunologic mechanism of action that lends itself well to combination with a checkpoint inhibition. So congratulations on your paper. I think it's really exciting because of its translational nature. It demonstrated the preclinical phenotypes in humans.
Hopefully, this will translate into more durable responses and lend itself to integration with immune checkpoint inhibition. So I think it's really exciting. It's just great. This is the kind of thing that makes the meeting as opposed to the plenary industry-sponsored large phase III trials, some of which are practice-changing and important, but some of them that are not. And so I'd rather see this on the podium any day than a lot of the things that we normally see at [INAUDIBLE]."
Amina Chaudhry:
"Well, maybe we'll talk to Hope next year. She was on this paper, too, or this poster. And we have a paper and press. Dr. Chaudhry, I know this is super early stage. What are your initial impressions and unmet needs and PD-L1-negative patients in the triple-negative later-line setting?"

"Yeah, I think this is the exact patient population that we need more studies and more drug in. And so I really appreciate that you guys are looking at metastatic triple-negative breast cancer patients that are heavily pretreated. I'm fascinated by this drug leronlimab and its mechanism with this chemokine target. And I'm really excited to see what the phase II study shows."
