The one thing I would say about Riz is that we should have compassion for him, not disdain.
The man has clearly been going through a mental breakdown (which is scary as he is former police and they do have weapons) and he is not getting the help that he needs.
Almost seems like mania or schizophrenia of some kind. He cannot help it, except to get himself some help, get on meds, and come back to society as a more stable person.
Compassion is the word I try to remember for so many people...
