You’re not imagining it the bid-ask spread is narrowing, and that’s often the first tremor before movement.
This usually signals one, or more, of the following.
Market Makers are repositioning, potentially expecting higher volume or price action soon.
Shorts are probing liquidity, looking for exits without blowing up the ask. It’s obvious if you person under the hood.
