Anecdotal is defined as "based on or consisting of reports or observations of usually unscientific observers". Or as another quick search put it: when someone believes something is true based on a small number of personal stories or isolated examples, rather than reliable, systematic evidence.
Most of us (me included) seem preprogrammed to want shortcuts, which is why there have been so many successful pyramid schemes decade after decade.
Reminds me of a couple that were presented to me. One was a new kind of phone service that was probably a legit thing but used the pyramid structure to try to build it out. It was called Excel. That was the first one I recall. Amway, obviously. A fuel additive that was supposed to give your car better mileage. Internet malls where you get people to shop on the internet through your website.
And that's just the small or dumb shit that little ol' me was presented with. Twice by people I'd otherwise thought were too smart to fall for such a thing. I remember getting a call from an old boss of mine who I respected the hell out of it. She was great. I happened to be unemployed when she left me a voicemail saying she had something she wanted to discuss. Hot damn! Maybe my old boss had an opening on her current team, wherever that was. But no, she was building her pyramid for the internet shopping thing. And I still can hear the "OH GAIL, NOOOOO" I said in my head when I realized she'd been caught up in it.
Anyway, my point is when you see things that sound too good to be true you should look for the rigorous scientific study results for clarity. They'd exist in numerous, repeatable, and published fashion if the claim had any merit.
Which is why it's a good thing that in 2025 the United States is growing the scientific community with new investments into R&D across our finest research organizations, and embracing the documented and proven strategies of scientists past.
Now I must go. I haven't read or watched the news in over a year so I can't wait to read up on all the amazing discoveries.
Oh, and while Samantha Mottet was anecdotal evidence I think we can all agree that there has also been a lot of scientific study surrounding the drug she took and thus a very strong basis for believing in her story and why LL was the likely reason she's alive today. That's some anecdotal evidence worth getting behind.
