CEC: Australia’s energy grid will require large amounts of storage capacity as ageing and increasingly unreliable coal-fired generation retires.

The Clean Energy Australia report, released last month, shows that the number of large-scale batteries under construction at the end of 2024 was enough to power around 460,000 homes across Australia – that’s more capacity than a third of existing coal-fired power stations combined.
