Good point. What you describe below all contributes to selling pressure, whether a regular or a short sale. I see five main types and causes of selling pressure. Of course, there could be other sources as well. Here are the five I see:

1. Fife-Paulson (quick sell of long shares issued through warrants, maybe counted as short sale)
2. Individuals Day Traders (mostly short selling)
3. Hedge Funds (mostly short selling)
4. Longs who sell a small percentage of their position to get needed cash
5. Other Entities (short selling through hedge or other funds) to pile on to keep price bottled up for various reasons that I've outlined before

What percentage of selling each of the five types is doing I don't know, and I don't know if there is intent, but there could be (see #5 above). It's not the short percentage of float that counts. It's the amount of daily selling pressure that can be exerted each day in the market. In that scenario, you don't need a larger short percentage of float. You can just add to the selling pressure (pile on with short sales) when only a few million shares are traded each day. And it's a fact that overall short positions have risen from 14 million to 35 million this year.

Regardless of whether folks agree with whether there is any intent at all to affect price (and I acknowledge that there may not be the fifth type operating here (see #5 above)--I just point out the possibility), I think we all see that the effect is that price has been bottled up by unusual selling pressure. The charts are clear on this.

The remedy is here and the price will break loose (with more data, studies, licensing, buyout, additional media coverage, etc). The opportunity to buy at these bargain basement prices will soon be gone. I'm also very encouraged by the foray into the prostate indication, which I believe may also be treated by the same MOA. Huge need and large market.

Cheers!
Go Longs
