I could write a dissertation on the topic of why the so called “merit based” system is just regression back to the good old days. But I’ll keep it short and tell you how it relates to Univec.
American society has never and will never be totally based on merit. If it was you would have to assume that systemic racism and prejudices don’t exist. And unless you’re Caucasian in America, you know that is not true. Some may disagree. Merit based is not objective, it’s based on access. Access based on legacy and family associations will always be there and canceling DEI just brings us back to that and doesn’t level anything and doesn’t make anyone getting jobs etc, mean that they are qualified.
So some saying this is how things are for Dalton. The merit based, meaning if he has a good product, the federal government will back him and give him contracts. False, systemic racism and prejudice does exist in America. Ask Dalton himself. Even if he built the smartest computer in the world, some may not give him the opportunity to sell it or show it, just based on the color of his skin.
